MS soldering irons are MIL-SPEC compliant, i.e. they are used according to MIL-STD-2000. In contrast to conventional soldering irons, they have additional insulation to ground, which avoids interference frequencies. MS soldering irons are not compatible with conventional soldering tips, but must always be used with MS soldering tips.
