The KNIPEX 7702115 ESD side cutter is characterized by its robust, load-optimized design, which is equipped with a riveted and play-free joint. The slim design of the handles allows for precise and comfortable gripping. Thanks to the electrically discharging, dissipative handles, safe handling is ensured.The high leverage of the side cutter significantly reduces the amount of force required, while the low-friction double spring ensures smooth and even opening. An additional laser-hardened cutting edge with a hardness of about 62 HRC and the mirror-polished surface with a fine oil film provide optimal rust protection and prevent circuit disruptions due to flaking chrome parts.
The technical specifications include a length of 115 mm, a width of 52 mm, and a height of 17 mm. The weight is 69 g. The side cutter can cut soft materials up to a diameter of 1.63 mm, medium-hard materials up to 1.15 mm, and hard materials up to 0.6 mm. The cutting pliers of the Knipex standard series are equipped with precision-ground cutting edges for finest cutting work, e.g. in electronics and fine mechanics. A low-friction double spring ensures a smooth and even opening. The mirror polish combined with a fine oil film offers a good rust protection so that errors in circuits by flaking chrome parts are prevented.

Push-through, backlash-free joint. High cutting quality and long service life.
The joint of the electronic side cutter is box joint. What are the advantages of box joints? With box joints, the inner leg of the pliers is guided on both sides by two large bearing surfaces in the outer leg of the pliers. This avoids the tilting movements that occur with surface-mounted tong joints. The rivets are only subjected to shear stress, not bending. Among other things, this results in the high quality of the cutting processes and the long service life for which Knipex is renowned. The cutting edges are induction hardened in addition to the oil hardening of the entire pliers. A low-friction double spring is integrated to support the smooth and even opening of the pliers after the cutting process.
ESD protection against uncontrolled electrostatic discharge; safety rust protection
Sudden discharges due to electrostatic charge differences are particularly feared in electronics. The electronic cutting pliers dissipate electrostatic energy evenly and in a controlled manner via the handles.The handles of the cutting pliers are conductive - i.e. not voltage-insulating.This enables slow and therefore safe charge equalization.The rust protection is also harmless for sensitive electronic components.Instead of chrome plating, the electronic cutting pliers are given a mirror polish and a fine oil film to protect against corrosion.As a result, no chrome parts can flake off and fall onto circuit boards.The mirror polish in combination with a fine oil film protects the pliers from corrosion sufficiently for workshop use, provided the oil film is renewed occasionally.
