Protective lacquers are special lacquers developed to protect PCBs and the associated equipment against environmental influences. They protect wirings against chemicals, vibrations, humidity, wetness and high temperatures that could cause corrosion, mold formation and current leakage leading to a failure in case of an uncoated PCB.
Protective lacquers improve the reliability and safety of PCBs and offer a life-time efficiency by creating a protective film that insulates the PCB protecting it against enviromental influences like chemicals, humidity and other pollutants.
Protective lacquers facilitate a higher current and a shorter distance between the traces as they prevent current leakage.
Information on the application
Cleaning
PCBs have to be cleaned thoroughly before coating so that a maximum of adhesion can be reached. Flux residues have to be removed to prevent corrosion.
Environmental regulations
To use at min. 16°C or a relative humidity of 75%. As all PCBs absorb humidity, it has to be removed before coating so that the protective lacquer can completely develop his characteristics. Pre- and vacuum-drying are ideal for his purpose.
Film thickness
Depends on the application method.
